William A. ‘Fritz’ Wiedergott, 82, of Northborough and formerly of Southborough, died on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at UMass Medical Center in Worcester. He was the beloved husband of Sylvia (Bloch) Wiedergott for 60 years.
Born in Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, Fritz graduated from Allentown High School. Soon after he enlisted in the Navy, serving on the Destroyer the USS Stoddard during the Korean War. Upon his Honorable discharge, Fritz went on to attend Springfield College, graduating in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education.
For the next 40 years Fritz would become a popular and well respected member of the faculty at St. Mark’s School in Southborough. He taught in the math department, was the Director of Athletics, a trainer, and coach of the schools Varsity Soccer, Wrestling, and LaCrosse teams, where he amassed an impressive record.
An avid Skeet Shooter, Fritz was a World Champion in individual and team events. His overall excellence in the sport resulted in Fritz’ induction into both the Massachusetts, and National Skeet Shooting Hall of Fame.
In addition to his wife Sylvia, he is survived by his children, Anita-Marie Edwardsen and her husband, Ronald; Teresa Wiedergott-Wilson and her husband, Steve; William A.Wiedergott, 3rd; Karl Wiedergott; Heather Cartier and her husband, Roland; his grandchildren, Kristine Hart, Kelly Edwardsen, Ryan Wilson, Hannah Wilson, and Chace Cartier.
